Impact is a result of an ACT. Simply put, it means to Impress an act over a person or thing with visible evidence to show for it. A person called a man of impact is a man of ACTION. Meaning the effects of his acts must be seen rubbing off on someone else, a place or a thing.
Therefore, the first thing to note is you cannot be a man of impact if you refuse to act.
To “impress” on a thing or person is to have a degree of influence on someone or something that alters the outcome of that thing or person. For instance, someone says, “Mr Femi Otta, has really made a great impact in my life”, the person saying this simply means this Mr Femi has to a reasonable degree been a part of what has made him who he is as at the moment he’s making that statement.
The second thing to note therefore is, you can’t impact to others what you don’t have in you. It is simply a transfer of what you in your inside that you pour into another.
Thirdly, impact can come in diverse forms, transfer of knowledge, support with money, creating a business opportunity for another, helping one achieve something bigger than him, changing a person’s lifestyle, giving of material things in times of need and so on. But of all these, I’d say BELIEVING in someone and their dreams is one of the greatest form of impact. Though unlike others, it appears to be so intangible but the weight of influence it can have on a perosn cannot be overemphasized.
Lastly, before I drop my pen, since impact is an act, which can be in different forms and is coming from your inside, it is therefore worthy to note that impact can be either POSITIVE or NEGATIVE.
Your impact on a man’s life can either influence them positively or negatively. If for instance a friend of mine becomes financially free after meeting me and showing him steps to legally make money and he does, I have been a positive impact on his life. But if someone becomes wayward, an alcoholic, a drug dealer... as a result of my influence in his life then I have been a negative impact on his life.
So I end with these questions,
* Is your life making an impact on anyone at all?
* What type of impact do you have on those around your life now?
Remember it’s in the ACT not on the WISHLIST.
